Chris Ferguson captures inaugural Freddy Smith Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
Closing out his 2025 season with a tripleheader weekend, Chris Ferguson traveled to Senoia (Ga.) Raceway on Friday afternoon to launch the two-day Peach State Classic with FloRacing Night in America, which drew 45 entries.
Ferguson came out the gate fast as he was quickest in his qualifying group and sat on the pole of his heat race. Chris fell back in his heat and B-Main which relegated him to a provisional starting spot for the $20,000-to-win opener. Chris made up eight spots to finish 16th.
Finishing third in a heat race on Saturday, Ferguson started from the fifth-row in the $30,000 finale and recorded a Top-10 outing in ninth.
Chris and his team then headed back up I-85 to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) for Sunday’s inaugural Freddy Smith Memorial which featured the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series as well as the Cherokee Chief miniseries finale.
Qualifying second-fastest in his group, Ferguson picked up a heat race victory and started third in the 50-lap, $15,000-to-win feature event. Chris powered to the front on the opening lap and never looked back, leading all 50 circuits to score the $15,000 win over Ross Bailes and Trent Ivey.
