Chris Ferguson wins $8,000 Stick Elliot Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
Three-Race Swing in Indiana and Illinois Awaits
MT. HOLLY, N.C. (9/23/2025) – Chris Ferguson made a triumphant return to victory lane this past weekend, capturing his fourth Stick Elliott Memorial trophy at Cherokee Speedway aboard his Spartan Transportation / Animal Care Clinic of Concord No. 22 Stinger Racecars Late Model.
The $8,000 payday—Ferguson’s first win of the 2025 season—came Saturday night at the red-clay oval in Gaffney, South Carolina, where he outran pole-sitter Trent Ivey in the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series event honoring the late Gene “Stick Elliott” Daves, a local racing icon with more than 400 career victories.
“Man, it feels great to be standing up here,” Ferguson said. “That was a fun battle with [Trent] Ivey—he’s a great racer and a good friend, and I truly appreciate the way he races with respect. It’s always rewarding when we can race that hard and still put on a great show for the fans. It’s been a while since our last win, so this one means a lot. I’m extremely grateful to my sponsors for their continued support, and a big thank you to all the fans for coming out tonight."
In his only start of the weekend, the Mt. Holly, North Carolina, native crossed the border into South Carolina on Saturday for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series program. Ferguson set the bar in qualifying with a blistering 15.410-second lap, earning fast time honors and a front-row starting spot for the 50-lap main event.
From the drop of the green flag, Ferguson quickly emerged as the favorite, powering past Ivey on the opening lap and setting a commanding pace out front. Despite a mid-race challenge from Ivey, Ferguson held firm and led all 50 laps to secure his 18th career Carolina Clash victory.
He crossed the finish line 0.833 seconds ahead of Ivey, with Zack Mitchell completing the podium in third.

Ferguson now turns his attention to a three-race weekend, starting with a doubleheader at Brownstown Speedway (IN) this Friday and Saturday with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the annual Jackson 100. He’ll then head to Coles County Speedway (IL) on Sunday to cap off the weekend.
